Chantal Gillet and Paul Raymond have been farming for as long as they can remember. Now, on their own farm in Curran Ont., La Bergerie des Sables has an every-growing list of items for sale. On offer are lamb, pork, beef, veal, chicken eggs, preserves and marinades; but it’s the ewe milk creations that are really creating a buzz. In its fourth year of production, the sheep’s milk Greek-style yogurt is thick, rich and full of flavour. It's healthy too — the herd of 100 sheep is raised on a diet of grass and oats to avoid genetically modified ingredients and the lactose in sheep dairy can be easier to digest. Also look for La Bergerie’s shepherd’s caramel, cheese and an extensive line of ice creams including maple, vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry.
