When the steel has reached its peak temperature the hammering begins. “We try to keep the temperature under the threshold of melting, but you want the steel as plasticine as possible to make it do what you want it to,” says Josh Van Noy, above. “As we hammer it out, we’re refining the steel and it’s giving us a better-quality material.”
