Alain Ménard, top left, co-founded the Green Beaver Company in Hawkesbury, Ont., in 2002 with his wife, Karen Clark. Ménard, a microbiologist and Clark, a biochemist, left their jobs in the pharmaceutical and pesticide industries, ditching the harsh chemicals to start the company that focuses on natural skin and personal-care products.
With the pandemic, sales of castile soap, an all-purpose soap made using Canadian sunflower oil, have jumped, and Ménard recently added hand sanitizer to the company's product list.
