Ian Carswel, top, l always knew that if he were to open a restaurant he'd do it in a small town. He and his wife, Tessa, opened Black Tartan Kitchen in Carleton Place four years ago and have been an integral part of the community ever since.
Carswell works with local farmers, producers and brewers and, during the pandemic, he's baked and cooked for the local food bank, delivered lunches to replace the high school's lunch program and donated a portion of merchandise sales to the food bank.
