Chelsea Alpacas opened to the public four years ago. On 18 acres halfway between Chelsea and Wakefield, Genevive Rousseau, her husband Marc Charron and their two daughters, keep 15 alpacas in a lovely post and beam barn and neat paddocks nestled against a wooded hillside.
Chelsea Alpacas have an on-farm and online shop stocked with socks, mittens, felted insoles, scarves and duvets made from the wool of their alpacas.
Adam Paquin, above, has 60 alpacas on the farm he shares with his wife and their two daughters in Low, Que. Like the other alpaca farms, Paquin offers farm tours and that allow visitors to have lots of face time with the animals.
