Food for Thought
This event is designed to bring members of the chef community together with students in the Culinary Arts Program. The evening forms part of the student’s final mark (grade 11s), and gives them the experience of the working with restaurant professionals to cook and serve for paying customers. It is also an opportunity to raise funds to support the Parkdale Food Centre, a local organization that helps feed people in need and educate them about good food practices. As well, we will be supporting The Ron Eade Culinary Scholarship at Algonquin College.
Featured chefs include:
Marc Doiron, town restaurant, Ottawa
Jamie Stunt, Soif Bar a Vin, Gatineau
Anna March, Chez Edgar, Gatineau
Chris Lord, Knifewear, Ottawa
Cody Starr, The Rex, Ottawa
(With Chefs Tony Christoforatos and Kent Van Dyk of Longfields S.S.)
Ian Kennard and Braden Kennard, Willie’s Café, London will lead the service team
Each Chef designs a course for the evening along with a matching non-alcoholic beverage. Students from grades 9-12 will be the main cooks for the evening, helping the Chefs in advance preparation of their course and plating the course during the event. Grade 11 students will serve the meal to our guests. The dinner will be served in the Cafeteria of the school with tables of 8 set up to accommodate the guests. Guests are encouraged to purchase whole tables but this is not a necessity. Whole tables will be reserved, the rest of the seating is on a first come, first served basis.
