Bisou Dates - Chocolatier and Gourmet Foods has opened their doors as the newest gourmet and specialty store in Ottawa. The boutique store carries exceptionally unique products sourced from around the country, with an emphasis on Ontario products.
“This has been a dream of a lifetime,” says owner Maha Surani. “The last five years were spent building the Bisou Dates brand including gourmet date bites and natural date butters which could be found in Whole Foods, Pusateris, Natural Food Pantry and other retailers.”
Bisou Dates creates the most sumptuous gourmet Medjool dates, enrobed in 70% dark chocolate, with fillings such as caramelized ginger, pistachios, halva, Italian Orange, marzipan, and so many more decadent fillings. These make for wonderful hostess gifts, baptisms, weddings, cocktail parties or simply enjoying a box for yourself.
The gourmet store carries products the likes of Heritage Bee and Chandler Honey, Bayfield Provisions, Allo Simone spreads, Escuminac and 53 Acres maple syrup, along with Thrive Wagyu Beef bars.
The shelves are lined with a treasure trove of finds, such as the Cocktail Box, Vesper cocktail mixes, Chef Laura products and Untamed Feast, a line of foraged mushrooms, Kopi Thyme – a spectacular line of Asian sauces, Mandy’s dressings, and specialty.
The newest additions to Bisou Dates are Seed & Mill, a line of halva sourced from New York, along with BRINS, a line of jams partnered with the MET for beautiful product design. Yes, there are amazing products from the USA as well to compliment the fabulous Canadian products. At the end of the day, gourmet food has no boundaries and is found worldwide in some of the most amazing places.
“Our hope is that our gourmet boutique brings excitement to every client as they wander through the shelves discovering new products and returning home to share and sample the decadent flavors,” concludes Maha Surani.
