They are located on the fringe of Ottawa just a short drive from Parliament Hill. Our sugar bush is open to the public during their famous Syrup Season. They are a fully operational maple farm. At their family farm you can experience maple syrup making the way it has been done for centuries.

Blair Brothers Maples

During March 2020, the Blair family, like millions of other families across Canada, found themselves forced to isolate at home as a worldwide pandemic swept across the nation. Living on their multi-generational Westport homestead, they quickly realized how blessed they were to have acreage to roam and woodlands to explore. Taking advantage of a slower-paced lifestyle, they decided to teach their children the art of creating maple syrup, something both Scott and Stacy did as children themselves. Their property is home to hundreds of sugar maples that have never been harvested.

Less than 5 km from downtown Ottawa, the Vanier Sugar Shack is the only operating sugar shack in an urban setting in North America. Located in a 17.5-acre sugar bush in the heart of the nation’s capital, the Vanier Museopark keeps the tradition of maple syrup production alive, traditions established in Vanier by the White Fathers circa 1940.

They are proud to offer quality food from local producers in an enchanting setting where old-time charm blends with modernity. This is what you will experience at the new Vanier Sugar Shack.
